Indie rock band SUD is no longer part of the 2018 University of the Philippines Fair after members have been accused of sexual misconduct.

A Twitter thread that has gone viral since Tuesday has been exposing alleged sexist and manipulative behavior of male band members toward women in the local indie music scene.

SUD’s male members Sud Ballecer, Jimbo Cuenco and Kohl Aguilar were named in the thread as among those who have supposedly made unwanted sexual advances toward women.

On more than one occasion, Ballecer allegedly touched female fans without their consent even when they appeared uncomfortable with it.

Ballecer, Cuenco and Aguilar have allegedly propositioned or hinted at sex with women they just met despite having girlfriends.

UP Babaylan head Vince Liban shared a text message presumably sent to the band today stating that SUD was out of the 2018 UP Fair.

“My team has alerted me of sexual harassment allegations of the band’s members on Twitter. As an org who values and advocates for women and their rights, we cannot tolerate these kinds of behavior,” the message read.

He called for recommendations and said in his Facebook post, “Misogynists should have no place in #UPFair2018 much less, in our community.”

This morning, indie band Jensen and the Flips was removed from The Rest Is Noise yearend line-up after members were similarly accused, with one member reportedly apologizing for his behavior. RA/JB
