After slaying her red carpet look with a blonde hairdo and a biker jacket-inspired dress, Selena Gomez went dramatic for her American Music Awards performance.
She performed “Wolves,” her latest single with DJ Marshmello.
Gomez appeared to come out of a car crash as she sang on a wrecked car in a silky, white nightgown.
While fans celebrated her so far only TV performance of the year—the “Bad Liar” singer underwent a kidney transplant months ago for lupus—some thought it was a wreck.
TV viewers cried that she was lip-syncing, possibly because she appeared to be covering her face as part of the choreography.
Well it’s not a Selena Gomez performance without the mediocrity and lip syncing so are we really surprised? #AMAs2017 #AMAs pic.twitter.com/BNQ3AIrpNk

Gomez’s fans, also known as Selenators, came to her defense. One claimed that effects were added to make her voice sound robotic.
Selena Gomez did a GREAT performance but she had production added on top of the vocals to sound “robotic” and people are saying that she was lipsycing, when they could say GOOD things about the performance. People just want a reason to hate Selena and discredit her #AMAs pic.twitter.com/wPp3YFTeOl

According to TMZ, sources close to the singer said that she was singing live to a backing track. Her languid disposition was also said to be part of the entire act. /ra
