Proud parents Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andolong flew to Japan to support daughter Mariel, who is representing the country in the Miss International tilt.
On Instagram, Andolong shared photos of the family reuniting, with the statuesque Mariel embracing her parents in tight hugs.
Family and friends came in full force to cheer her on.
The group also went sightseeing around Tokyo while waiting for the competition:
After she won the Bb. International title in May, Christopher took to Instagram to express his joy.
“We are so happy and proud of your perseverance and passion, to follow your dreams and aspirations. Happy din kami because you are the first Beauty Queen in our Clan, plus seeing You take on this wonderful breakthrough which we (Nanay and I) have been praying for.”
Mariel is aiming for a back-to-back win for the country as Kylie Verzosa currently holds the title.
Miss International is one of the world’s top international beauty pageants and is usually held in Japan or China.
The competition will be live-streamed on Facebook Nov. 14, 2 p.m., in the Philippines. /ra
