Aiko Melendez remembers dad Jimi on his birthday

Actress Aiko Melendez may already be a mom of two grown-up kids, but no matter how old she gets, she will always be her “Papa’s little girl.”

In a recent Instagram post, the actress gave a heartfelt birthday greeting to her dad, the late actor Jimi Melendez.

Her post was captioned, “Happy birthday Papa Jimi!!! You are probably celebrating there in heaven with Jesus! As i grow older no matter who’s love gives me Joy and Happiness, I will always be my Papa’s little girl. I miss you Papa! How heartbroken iam still whenever i think of you and how i lost you. I can’t explain in words but my tears do.. Miss you bigtime! Love #aiko.”

As accompanying image to her post, she uploaded a shot of a magazine cover that featured her and dad Jimi, dated Dec. 13, 1994.

Melendez has said in past interviews that it still pains her whenever she remembers how her father passed on. The actress has revealed in previous interviews that her dad died while watching her 1994 “Maalaala Mo Kaya” movie on TV. She said he choked as he got too overwhelmed in one of his daughter’s scenes, and a few minutes later, she lost her chance of seeing him alive ever again.

Melendez currently stars as the villain Emilia Ardiente in the hit Kapamilya afternoon drama “Wildflower”. JB
