Miss Philippines-International Maria Angelica “Mariel” de Leon headed off to Tokyo, Japan yesterday to compete for the Miss International 2017 beauty pageant.
In a recent Instagram post, the beauty queen looked regal as she posed wearing a Philippine sash. She captioned her post, “See you in a few, Tokyo!”
Her father, veteran dramatic actor Christopher de Leon, sent her off at the airport. Her mom, veteran actress Sandy Andolong, was at a taping engagement at the time but nonetheless sent her well-wishes to her daughter.
Filipina Miss International title holders in past are Gemma Teresa Cruz in 1964, Aurora Pijuan in 1970, Melanie Marquez in 1979, Precious Lara Quigaman in 2005, Bea Rose Santiago in 2013 and Kylie Versoza in 2016. JB
