Korn vocalist Jonathan Davis may be one of the most popular rock stars ever, but like many of us, he’s also a video game aficionado on his spare time.
Aside from acting as a stress reliever and a form of entertainment, the 46-year-old singer says the hobby also helped him to recover from a life-threatening disorder back in 2006.
As seen in a Facebook video uploaded by Rolling Stone’s gaming newsletter Glixel, Davis revealed that he had a rare disease called ITP (Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura), an auto-immune disorder that affects platelet levels.
“I thought I was gonna die at the time,” he said, adding that turning to video games helped him get his mind off the diagnosis.
“Video games, to me, have always been therapeutic. It makes me forget about what’s going on, and maybe that’s the lure for a lot of people. It’s therapy for me,” the rocker revealed.
Davis also revealed that he keeps his trusty X-Box One whenever he’s on tour, adding that classic titles such as “Resident Evil” and the “Call of Duty” series are his favorites.
The online feature even allows him to play with his kid even when he’s in a different time zone. Khristian Ibarrola /ra
