K-pop boy group Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS) recently made a comeback with their new mini album “Love Yourself: Her” and is now breaking records.
The mini album was released on Sept. 18, along with the vibrant music video of the title track, “DNA”.
The album was a hit as it took the number one spot on iTunes Top Albums charts in 73 regions (including the Philippines), the highest ever for any K-pop artist.
The title track also came in first in 29 regions on the iTunes Top Songs chart and took the number four spot on the iTunes Top Songs chart in the United States, breaking their own record as they previously placed eight with their song “Spring Day”.
Apart from iTunes, the title track now ranks 44 on Spotify’s Global Top 50, making BTS the first K-pop group to enter the list.
Meanwhile, the collective hardwork of ARMYs paid off; approximately eight hours after the release of its music video, “DNA” now holds the record for the fastest K-pop music video to reach 10 million views on YouTube.
The music video also beat the record for most views of a K-pop video in 24 hours with 20,975,068 views, exactly a day after its release.
Both records were previously held by Black Pink with their “As If It’s Your Last” music video, which reached 10 million views in 17 hours, and an impressive 13,316,290 views 24 hours after its release. JB
