While off camera, it’s hard to picture actress Emilia Clarke without her “Game of Thrones” character’s trademark white-blonde locks.
The 30-year-old English actress often sports her natural brunette hair color when she’s not filming and opts for a wig to portray the enchanting “Mother of Dragons” Daenerys Targaryen.
With the critically acclaimed series reportedly set to film its final season starting this October, Clarke took to Instagram to share how she went “full-Khaleesi” by dying her hair blonde.
“AAAAHHHHHHH SHHHHIIIII****** I done did it. Mother of dragons meet Emilia. Emilia meet mother of dragons,” the actress playfully captioned her post, which has received over 1 million likes.
She also paid homage to her hairstylists for her transformation, acknowledging their involvement with the original “Khaleesi wig” used in the past seven seasons.
“All hail to the magnificence of @kevalexanderhair and @candicebanks74 the genius creators of ‘KHALEESI WIG’ (and not forgetting all the hair on game of thrones for 8 glorious years) for at long last making this magical moment a reality.”
In a GQ magazine report in 2013, Clarke admitted that she becomes utterly unrecognizable by most fans when she does not wear her wig.
“It’s silly to say, but when I take the wig off at the end of the day, I’m rather disappointed when I look in the mirror,” she said. /ra
