Lady Gaga dubbed Selena Gomez a “warrior princess” in a tweet expressing support after Gomez underwent a kidney transplant.
“Prayers and love to @selenagomez you are a warrior princess,” wrote the “Million Reasons” singer.
Gomez, who recently released hits “Fetish” and “Bad Liar” explained in an Instagram post why she was unable to promote her singles.
The singer was diagnosed with autoimmune disease lupus in 2014. According to the Mayo Clinic, lupus is when the immune system attacks tissues and organs and can cause inflammation to different body systems.
The kidney transplant was in relation to the disease.

“I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of. So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health,” explained Gomez.
“I honestly look forward to sharing with you, soon my journey through these past several months as I have always wanted to do with you,” she added.
A close friend, Francia Raisa, was the kidney donor.
Lady Gaga, on the other hand, had to skip a music festival in Brazil as she dealt with “severe physical pain” from fibromyalgia, a chronic disorder that affects the joints and soft tissues, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
In Sept. 14, the “Born This Way” artist shared that she was “devastated” to miss Rock in Rio. The singer is in the hospital with “expert medical professionals” for treatment. JB
