Ruffa Gutierrez becoming like her mom in being strict with daughters’ love affairs

Former beauty queen and actress Ruffa Gutierrez may appear to be all too modern with her outlook in life, but ironically she has become like her mother—strict when it comes to being protective over her daughters in matters of the heart.

As a mother of two young girls—Lorin Gabriella, 14, and Venizia Loran, 13—she sets rules before she allows them to engage in romantic relationships.

“For me, I want them to really focus on their studies and at the same time ‘yung maging matatag sila bilang babae, ‘yung they can learn how to say no. ‘Yung pag-bo-boyfriend it’s gonna happen pero ‘wag naman muna sana ngayon, they’re such babies pa.” Gutierrez told  showbiz reporters in the sideline of her contract signing on Friday with her new management, ALV Talent Circuit.

Gutierrez has admitted that her mother, talent manager Annabelle Rama, had always meddled with her love affairs. On several occasions in the past, she and Rama clashed because of her mother’s strictness when it came to Gutierrez’ boyfriends. Now that she has her own growing girls, the statuesque beauty feels she’s actually beginning to be like her mother.

“Yung mga lalaki ha, lumayo-layo kayo. It’s so funny kasi ngayon na I have two girls, I sound like her na, they go like ‘Mommy, you’re more strict than lola. Lola allowed you to have a boyfriend when you’re 18. But mommy I think you had a boyfriend even before you’re 18,'” Gutierrez said.

The glamorous mother of two swears to being old school when it comes to the affairs of the heart, especially with her daughters.

“For me as long as you’re mature enough baka 18 pwede na, pero ayoko ‘yung mga live-in live-in, kailangan pumunta pa rin sila sa bahay magdala sila ng mga prutas, chocolates. I don’t care if it’s 2017 I’m still a lola at heart. Please the boys, they better send me flowers, chocolates, perfumes, ako ang ligawan nila. And kailangan matalino sila.”

Gutierrez is bent on prioritizing her kids’ school over any endorsement or showbiz project they may be offered. /ra
