Apple’s new iPhone technology first predicted in ‘Black Mirror’ episode

Charlie Brooker’s “Black Mirror” anthology featuring a technologically superior future has both amazed and creeped out a wide array of audiences.

Since most of the technologies featured on the show seems highly feasible, some have already been turned into reality—with features of the Apple’s new iPhone X being the latest one.

Shortly after Apple unveiled its $999 (around P50,000) iPhone, Netflix’s Twitter page posted a cryptic image, which only fans of the dark, satirical show could decode.

The image showed the presentation of the “TrueDepth” features that enable a state-of-the-art face scan technology, which turns into virtual avatars called “Animojis.”

However, Netflix’s version added a blue-faced character that wasn’t in the original presentation.

The potty-mouth, bear-like creature “Waldo,” which was introduced in the episode “The Waldo Moment,” joined the popular animal and poop emojis.

The episode featured an outsider who voices a cartoon bear that almost won a government election by utilizing anti-establishment rhetoric.

Aside from showing the facial recognition software and human-controlled virtual avatars, the episode is also known for foreshadowing the rise of now US President Donald Trump. /ra
