NOW, THAT WAS FAST.
Rumors are emanating, from the studio mismo: Controversial Personality has incurred the ire of several Top Bosses.
CP was TB’s pet just a few months ago; the tide has turned swiftly. The execs are reportedly upset about CP interfering in internal policies, like programming and scheduling.
TB should have known from the get-go that CP is demanding and annoyingly “hands-on.”
Credit grabber
Flamboyant Manager hogged the credit, telling Major Company’s bosses that Huge Stars landed a project through his efforts.
MC’s deputies snooped around and found a source who denied FM’s claim. MC dutifully thanked Real Executive, the one who worked hard to clinch the deal for HS.
RE was surprised at the FM’s duplicity. “FM has always been a credit-grabber,” a mole said.
Secret ex
At a recent big event, Character Actress hobnobbed oh-so-casually with peers, including Married Actor and Pretty Wife.
PW is clueless about MA and CA’s past. Years ago, when CA and MA were still with other partners, they had a fling on a movie set.
Dishonoring dad
Acclaimed Actor was fed up with Handsome Son’s lack of acting skills. AA counseled HS to look beyond show biz—maybe go back to school or set up a business.
AA felt his son was an embarrassment to the clan—most of his relatives are among the best thespians in the country.
HS apparently took the fatherly advice badly. Defying dad, HS said he was acting for money, not for awards—unlike dad who remains cash-strapped in spite of his accolades. Ouch.
Hush-hush mishap
Here’s news that failed to make it to TV. Top Politician purportedly went on a joy ride with Fellow Politico, who moonlights as a media personality. TP wanted to show off his new toy, a sleek imported car.
While cruising on a deserted road, the vehicle turned turtle. TP and FP emerged from the mishap unscathed, except for bruised egos. Thus, the news blackout.
Gay award
NEW YORK—Latin pop star Ricky Martin was honored by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation for his work as a role model. During a gala awards rites on Saturday, Martin urged people everywhere to spread gay rights throughout Latin America.
“I just want to be free. I can say, today I am free,” the Puerto Rican singer said at the New York event, called GLADD Media Awards, which recognize the best portrayals of gay community members in film, television, radio, music, newspapers and blogs.
Martin, 39, revealed he was gay in 2010 after more than a decade in the international spotlight. Reuters
Hero award
NEW YORK—The leading organization for suicide prevention efforts among gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered youths is honoring Daniel Radcliffe in New York City.
The Trevor Project said Monday it’s giving the “Harry Potter” star its Hero Award at a ceremony in June.
Radcliffe tells The Associated Press it’s a great honor. But he says he feels the real heroes are the people answering phones in the Trevor call centers. He calls his work with the project possibly his “most important.”
Trevor Project was founded by the creators of the 1994 Academy Award-winning short film “Trevor,” about a gay teenager rejected by friends, and who tries to commit suicide.
Radcliffe is appearing in the Broadway revival of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.”
The last installment of the “Harry Potter” franchise comes out this June. AP
Top of the talk shows
For those who missed last weekend’s TV gabfests (And why we are moved, if we are moved):
Baby James’ birthday wish: “I want to be Michael Jackson when I grow up!” (That wouldn’t be easy, kiddo. MJ’s black, and dead. We kid you not—ask mom.)
Ryan Agoncillo, asked if he’s okay with wife Judy Ann Santos being a working mom: “Kung ano ’yung gusto niya dahil ang sikreto raw e happy wife, happy life! Bayaan ko siya kung ano gusto niyang gawin!” (Good answer.)
Richard Gutierrez, asked if someone “inspires” him these days: “Siyempre, alangan namang wala. Napakalungkot ko naman nun!“ (Does she have a name?)
Illac Diaz’s message to Angelica Jones, who’s suing him for grave oral defamation: “As a public leader, your role is not to create show biz chismis … please stop distracting the media.” (Oh, don’t worry about us; this is … uh, engaging.)
Sarah Geronimo shares her most embarrassing experience while shooting a scene with Gerald Anderson for “Catch me … I’m In Love”: “Dikit na dikit ’yung mukha namin … nako-conscious ako, so natatawa ako. Sorry po, nag-spray ’yung laway ko!” (Forgiveness is Gerald’s.)
Sarah Geronimo, on mending fences with Cristine Reyes backstage during “ASAP Rocks”: “Matagal na matagal ko na siyang gustong makausap. Pagkatapos ng lahat ng gulo, gusto ko na talagang mag-sorry sa kanya. Alam kong nasaktan din siya, kaya kailangan ko ring mag-apologize … niyakap ko na lang siya … hindi ko na siya pinakawalan. Sabi ko, ‘Cristine, ’di ko intensyon na [saktan ka].’” (Sabay ilag.)
Vice Ganda on what would complete his life: “Makukumpleto lang ang buhay ko, kapag kumpleto ang pamilya ko. E hindi naman na siya makukumpleto dahil wala na ’yung tatay ko. Pero ’yung pag-ibig namin sa isa’t isa kumpleto—’yung presensiya lang ang hindi.” (Is that a word?)
Isabel Oli on Baby James blabbing on nationwide television that she’s the girlfriend of his father, James Yap: “Kilala ko siya, nakikita ko lang siya sa TV, pero never kaming nag-meet. Medyo na-surprise ako kasi mismong si Baby James na nagsabi na never kaming nag-meet kaya paano naman niya ako makikilala? So, I really don’t know kung bakit nasabi niya ’yun.” (He’s an obedient little boy.)
Ethel Booba on her family not believing she was pregnant: “Masakit ’yun. Kahit na nag-pregnancy test na ako … ang sabi nila baka raw umiinom lang ako ng fertility pills kaya ako nagpa-positive.” (Puhleeez … too much information! A new show coming?)
