Saab Magalona unfazed by Duterte admin supporters: ‘You won’t silence me’

Saab Magalona has been unabashedly vocal on political and social issues, most recently about extrajudicial killings.

One of her posts shows screenshots of contradictory statements on extrajudicial killings:

While the post went viral and received support, it had its share of detractors.

The Cheats singer replied to a Twitter user who tried to dismiss the killings—which have claimed minors as victims—as individual or isolated cases.

The Twitter user said one of the headlines mentioned that President Rodrigo Duterte’s words about killing was “likely in jest.”

Magalona pointed out that there were other occasions when he had said it, which means it could’ve been more than a joke. “Lahat nalang joke. Kadiri,” she wrote, likely referencing the fact that Duterte and his supporters have used the excuse that the president’s words were only a joke.

A Twitter user showed Magalona a Facebook post that used one of her statements shared to a pro-Duterte group.

(This Saab is too much. She says Father Digong is disgusting and says everything is a joke. She probably doesn’t have any idea of how Filipinos live in places where drugs are used and sold).”

Magalona’s response? “Kadiri.”

She also said, “Duterte supporters can send me insults, death threats, rape wishes all they want. More reason for me to call this admin gross.”

She declared: “You will not silence me.” JB
