“Binibini”: A modern commercial celebrating the modern Filipina

San Mig Light has released a new video that celebrates modern “binibinis” around the country. The video is a fresh take on their original Binibini commercial released in the early 2000s, which boasted that the Philippines is home to the most beautiful women and the most delicious beer in the world.

Watch the old commercial here:

Similar to the Pale Pilsen commercial, the video starts out with what we are used to seeing from beer commercials—beautiful women walking and turning heads—but the ad eventually reveals that those women are “more than a pretty face.” The reinvented web film, released via Facebook, showcases five Filipinas who excel in typically male-dominated fields.

The video features the multi-awarded MMA fighter Rome Trinidad, licensed chemical engineer and environmental management specialist Mary Diane Lesiguez, San Juan City firefighter Jessa Bondoc, licensed pilot Chezka Gonzales-Garrido, and the acclaimed classical guitar trio known as Triple Fret composed of Charmaine Gallardo, Jennifer De Vera, and Rachel Sasing.

Behind the camera, women were also in charge of creating the video. The female-led production team includes director Jelise Chung, assistant director Christine Blando, broadcast producer Mariel Icban-Cruz, production designer Veronica San Antonio, and production manager Kim Ang.  McCann Worldgroup, the advertising agency responsible for the conceptualization of the web film, is headed by Managing Partner Mitzie Lim-Nacianceno.

This new video gives viewers something to talk about over bottles of San Mig Light. Light on the stomach and with only 100 calories, San Mig Light is the perfect partner for interesting and enjoyable sessions of mahaba-habang inuman. Drink Responsibly. ADVT
