Musicians pledge to help Hurricane ‘Harvey’ victims

Amid the destruction Hurricane “Harvey” caused in southeast Texas, music artists immediately pledged to donate and help those hurt and displaced by the catastrophic flooding.

Beyoncé, who’s a native of Houston—one of the hardest-hit areas—told the Houston Chronicle that she would be closely working with her foundation and her pastor, who’s based in the city “to implement a plan to help as many as we can.”

“My heart goes out to my hometown, Houston, and I remain in constant prayer for those affected, and for the rescuers who have been so brave and determined to do so much to help,” the pop star said in a statement.

Hip-hop artist Drake, on the other hand, wrote on Instagram that he and his manager would be working with local relief groups. “I’m praying for the safety of all those affected. Houston has truly been a home to me over the last eight years,” said Drake, who was born and raised in Canada.

“I want to thank all the men and women of service and volunteers for their courageous efforts to help people in need,” he added.

Other artists who have offered their support include Jennifer Lopez, Chris Brown, T.I., Nicki Minaj, DJ Khaled and The Chainsmokers.

Prince’s fave color isn’t purple

In music, the color purple is synonymous with the late icon Prince. After all, there’s his classic song, “Purple Rain” and his fifth album, “1999,” whose cover art is of the said color. Earlier this year, the company Pantone even came up with a new hue inspired by Prince’s purple Yamaha piano, according to the website Spin.

Yes, the color was indeed close to Prince’s heart, but it wasn’t his favorite, according to his sister Tyka Nelson.

Speaking to the Evening Standard about “My Name Is Prince,” the coming exhibition in London that will showcase hundreds of Prince’s items and “never-before-seen articles,” Nelson revealed: “The standout piece for me, is his orange Cloud guitar. It’s strange because people always associate purple with Prince, but his favorite was actually orange.”

Justin Bieber’s ‘family jewels’ spark lawsuit

Not so long ago, Justin Bieber—his family jewels, to be exact—caused a stir when paparazzi shots showing the pop star naked while vacationing in Tahiti.

Well, his balls are in the headlines once more, this time for sparking a lawsuit.

A recent report by TMZ said that a former employee named Kelly Lombardo at Northwell Health in New York filed a wrongful termination case against the hospital. The ex-staffer was fired for allegedly accessing Justin’s medical records, after hearing rumors that Justin was admitted to the hospital because of a sexually transmitted disease (STD).

But while sources connected to Justin confirmed to TMZ that the recording artist did go to Northwell Health in May, they stressed that it wasn’t for STD treatment. Apparently, Justin was playing football and suffered an injury to his groin, which he feared could be testicular torsion. But after being examined, it turned out that it was something less serious—a swollen testicle. ALLAN POLICARPIO
