It was a pleasant surprise for Megastar Sharon Cuneta. Who would ever think that someone who is part of a past chapter in her life would be so extra-nice as to send her a gift for no apparent reason? But her ex-husband Gabby Concepcion just did so! And she expressed her thanks publicly via Instagram for the durian fruits she had received through actress Ara Mina.
The photo was a simple “Thank you” note captioned, “Thank you for sending the durian through Ara. A pleasant surprise and much appreciated. Hope all’s well. God bless!”
The post sparked fire among the loyal fans of the Sharon-Gabby love team. The exchange between the former lovebirds was so overwhelming that it caught the attention of their No. 1 fan, their only daughter, actress-singer KC Concepcion.
Mommy Sharon cutely shut down her daughter’s teasing: “I have no idea why but, well, made me smile.” However, she “wasn’t able to eat na cos they were kinda going bad already when I got them.”
She then told her daughter to turn back to her dad for answers, “Ask him why you asking nga ba?”
In another comment, the Megastar piqued the “kilig” button of their longtime supporters when she wrote, “And I still stand by the fact that you (referring to KC) and I are his cutest family.” She then pulled back saying, “Hahahaha joke! Or not?!”
What made all this too intriguing was Conception’s acknowledgment: “Stay well. Right fruits for better health, better life. Glad you got it. Enjoy.”
While many Sharon-Gabby fans were delighted with the interaction between one of the hottest ’80s love teams, some still looked at it differently. The megastar immediately defended herself and said: “Hindi pasaring ang durian na malayo ang nilakbay makarating lang sa akin kaya nga nagpasalamat ako.”
She then asked people not to give malice to her words. She said, “Dapat pala tinext ko na lang si KC na mag thank you sa papa nya for me. Malinaw po? Salamat.”
Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion were among the hottest on-screen pairs in Philippine show biz. Their team-up was immediately accepted by the public via their first movie, “Dear Heart” in 1981. They went on to do more films together that cemented their place in the hearts of Filipino fans. Their last movie together was “Tayong Dalawa” in 1992.
Their on-screen team-up became a real-life relationship, which eventually led to their marriage in 1984. They were blessed with one daughter, KC, who looks like her dad. They soon separated in 1987 but still worked in a few movies after.
As years went on, they both had different relationships and then remarried. News of a Sharon-Gabby reunion movie circulated not too long ago, but no confirmation has been made yet. /ra
