Love over money for pretty starlet

Before critics could raise a fuss about the improbable plot twists in a recent film, it turned out that the exact same things happened in real life.

Pretty Performer dumped Rich Husband, a fast-rising politico, and rushed to the arms of Hunky Boyfriend, a dancer by profession.

It’s the stuff cheesy romance flicks are made of, but yes, the girl chose love over money.

No acting at all

Beautiful Newbie impressed not a few observers by playing a mean girl in a high-profile
project.

BN wasn’t acting at all. During a provincial sortie, fans wanted to have their photos taken with BN, who hid in the dressing room and was overheard saying: “Make them wait till they turn pale.”

Hide and seek

Drama Star is in hiding. DS gained considerable weight and is unable to face cameras. Was the weight gain due to her shaky personal life? (She left her longtime love for a rich new boyfriend.)

Or did she put on weight after completing a stint in rehab, as her detractors incessantly claim?

More trouble

BOGOTA—The ex-husband of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s lover told a Colombian magazine Sunday he plans to sue the ex-governor because the birth certificate of the couple’s love child was falsified.

Rogelio Baena, a Colombian native, was married to Mildred Patricia Baena, former housekeeper to Hollywood star-turned-California governor Schwarzenegger and wife Maria Shriver.

Baena only recently learned that his 13-year-old son with Mildred was actually her love child with Schwarzenegger.

Yet Baena’s name appears on the birth certificate as the boy’s father, and attorneys have told him that if Schwarzenegger and Mildred knew this was not true, they engaged in conspiracy to falsify a public document—a serious crime in California.

The Baenas separated after 10 years of marriage in October 1997, just weeks after the boy was born. The couple did not file for divorce until February 2008, according to US entertainment media. AFP

Back to rehab

LOS ANGELES—Troubled British singer Amy Winehouse is heading back to rehab, her spokesperson said on Friday.

The Grammy-winning Winehouse, 27, ironically best known for her 2006 hit “Rehab,” checked herself into a UK clinic on Wednesday prior to playing several summer dates in Europe starting June 18.

“Amy wants to be ready for the performances and decided to seek an assessment,” her publicist Tracey Miller said in a statement. Reuters

Arabic pop

RABAT, Morocco—Colombian pop singer Shakira said Saturday she would one day like to sing pop songs, if not an entire album, in Arabic.

The native Spanish speaker, who also has global hits in English, was speaking at a news conference in Morocco, where she was headlining the Mawazine World Rhythms music festival. “I am completely open to that experience,” she said. AP

Top of the talk shows

For those who missed last weekend’s TV gabfests (and why we are moved, if we are moved):

Dennis Trillo on ex-girlfriend Jennylyn Mercado’s revelations regarding their breakup: “Mas mabuti siguro huwag na lang mag-comment. Masyadong masaya ’yung gabi ko para masira dahil doon.” (Parang galit pa rin.)

Rhian Ramos on coping with her breakup with DJ Mo Twister: “Wala namang ibibigay sa ’yo si Lord na ’di mo kakayanin … I really am very, very peaceful.” (Nothin’ Mo to say, huh?)

Marian Rivera, asked if she could become a slave to love: “Kung karapat-dapat namang magpaka-alipin sa pagmamahal na ibinibigay, bakit hindi?” (Who are you, and what have you done to Marian Rivera?)

Iwa Moto on the recent swing of controversies involving her: “Whatever happens, kahit gaano niyo ko ilugmok, tatayo ako. Kaya nga ako survivor ng ‘StarStruck,’ eh.” (Astig!)

Vandolph on father Dolphy’s possible marriage to Zsa Zsa Padilla: “Pa, alam kong lahat meron ka na, asawa na lang wala. Nauna pa nga ako, eh. Kaya humabol ka naman!” (Do we hear Pidol laughing?)

Melissa Ricks admits breakup with Jake Cuenca: “Napapagod na ako na takas nang takas sa camera … Maybe we have a different set of priorities. He made me happy for two years, pero I think hanggang dun na lang ’yun.” (May expiry date pala.)

Jinkee Pacquiao on why she declined to guest on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”: “English ’yun so baka mag-nosebleed ako. Basta, naging totoo lang naman ako na baka ano ‘yung masabi ko. Ayokong magkamali, eh.” (Sana nag-hire ng interpreter—sosi!)
