Rihanna on Diplo’s music: #DutyFree
“She’s like the one artist we can’t ever get,” Diplo said of Rihanna, whom the DJ-record producer has been wooing for a collaboration for quite some time now.
In a recent interview with GQ Style, Diplo, who has produced tracks for the likes of Justin Bieber, Beyoncé and Bruno Mars, related that he had, on several occasions, attempted to pique Rihanna’s interest in working with him. And every time, he got “forcefully” turned down.
One time he was told by Rihanna that she “doesn’t do house music.” In another instance, the pop star described a song Diplo played for her as something that “sounds like a reggae song at an airport.” “I was like, I want to kill myself!” said the DJ, who remains cautiously optimistic about the prospect of being part of Rihanna’s discography.
“Before we’re all done, she will be on a song of ours,” Diplo said. “Hopefully. But if not, I don’t really care.”
Meanwhile, on her Instagram account, Rihanna teased Diplo with a sassy retort.
