Music icons Jay-Z and Beyonce’s relationship continues to be steady over the years and has stood the test of time.

Although the couple has managed to keep most of their marital affairs away from the public, their relationship was put on a spotlight when the 47-year-old business mogul was filmed in a violent altercation with his sister-in-law Solange Knowles in 2014.

The clip shows Solange being restrained by security as she attempts to slap and kick Jay-Z inside an elevator at a gala event while Beyonce looked on.

All parties have kept mum ever since, up until Jay-Z recently opened up about the shocking incident.

“We’ve always had a great relationship,” the “99 Problems” rapper described Solange during a RapRadar interview, as relayed by The Huffington Post.  “I fought my brothers and argued with my brothers my whole life. It just so happens, who we are, these things go into a different space, but it ain’t nothing.”

Although Jay-Z refused to share what caused the physical barrage, he said that his relationship with Solange was as strong as ever.

“We’ve had one disagreement ever,” he said. “Before and after, we’ve been cool. She’s like my sister. I will protect her. That’s my sister. Not my sister-in-law. My sister.”

The hip-hop icon also managed to sneak in an apology to his sister-in-law on his new album with the new song “Kill Jay Z.”

“You egged Solange on, Knowin’ all along, all you had to say you was wrong,” a line from the song said. Khristian Ibarrola /ra
