With Andrea Torres and Dingdong Dantes reuniting in the second season of the GMA 7 prime-time action series “Alyas Robin Hood,” old rumors may inevitably get reignited.
But Andrea’s not too worried about netizens thinking that there’s more to their onscreen partnership.
“I always make it a point to be professional. I’m here to work,” she told reporters at a recent press conference for “Alyas 2,” which debuted on Aug. 14.
According to Andrea, there’s no awkwardness between her and Dingdong on the set, and that they didn’t feel the need to talk about the issues hounding them.
“We’re both focused on doing the show. We don’t mix our personal lives with our job,” she said. “Working with Dingdong is always easy; I learn a lot from him.”
And never did she feel the need to back out of the show just so she could avoid being linked to Dingdong.
“That’s work, a blessing,” she pointed out. “A lot of actors like me look forward to landing projects. Now that work is coming in, I don’t think it’s right to decline or be choosy.”
She admitted that she was, for a time, at the receiving end of bashing. But she did get used to it eventually.
“I have already learned to accept that not everyone will like me, and that’s just part of the business,” pointed out Andrea, who plays Venus, the love interest and a faithful ally of Pepe (Dingdong).
If there’s anything Andrea learned from the intrigue, it’s that negativity is best dealt with positivity.
“Responding to the bashing will just make things worse. I pray when such things happen; I draw strength from God and my family,” she related.
Andrea, meanwhile, declined to go into details as to why she recently chose to leave Triple A, the talent management company of television producer Tony Tuviera, but maintained that they had parted ways “amicably.”
“The matter is difficult for me to discuss, because that’s between me and Triple A. I respect them and love them. We’re very open to each other and have forged a deep relationship. It was a tough decision … a big step to make. But I prayed and thought it over carefully,” she said.
It has been rumored that Andrea’s seemingly sudden departure from the company stemmed from a feud with Marian Rivera, another Triple A talent. Marian (Dingdong’s wife) allegedly snubbed Andrea when they chanced upon each other backstage at a Sunday variety show.
Prodded if she’s in good terms with Marian, the 27-year-old stressed: “Opo, OK naman po kami (Yes, we’re OK).”
In an earlier interview, Marian likewise insisted that there was no problem with her and Andrea, and that the latter treats her like a “big sister.”
