The five finalists in the Directors Showcase (for directors who have done at least three commercial feature films) category: “Bwakaw” by Jun Lana; “Kalayaan” (“Wildlife”), Adolfo B. Alix Jr.; “Kamera Obskura,” Raymond Red; “Posas,” Jeffrey Jeturian; and “Mga Mumunting Lihim,” Jose Javier Reyes.
Cinemalaya is an annual digital film competition that “aims to discover, encourage and honor cinematic works of Filipino filmmakers that boldly articulate and freely interpret the Filipino experience with fresh insight and artistic integrity,” organizers said in a statement. It is a project of the Cinemalaya Foundation, Cultural Center of the Philippines, Film Development Council of the Philippines and Econolink Investments.
