FOX network seeks new writers for ‘How I Met Your Mother’ spin-off
Fans of the American sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” were thrilled to see CBS’ spin-off series “How I Met Your Dad” in 2013. However, CBS’ pilot episode never really took off and was ultimately scrapped by the studio.
Three years since the original show last aired, 20th Century Fox TV is reviving the development of the sought-after spin-off.
According to Deadline, “This Is Us” executive producers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger are pitching a new version of a show that will be called “How I Met Your Father,” which is supposed to have no connection to the original show whatsoever.
Eager to fill the void left by lovable New Yorkers Ted Mosby (played by Josh Radnor), Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders), Marshall Eriksen (Jason Segel), Lily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan) and Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris), the studio is actively seeking new writers who will “be starting from scratch” on the new project.
Fox adds that the idea has been “slowly cooked,” and the studio has no imminent timetable on when the show could possibly materialize.

“We’ve been in business with so many of these creators for such a long time and these shows are so long running, and they’ve had the opportunity through streaming services to be introduced to an entirely new generation of viewers,” she told the news outlet. “That does feel like an event, reuniting characters from a very long-running show.” Khristian Ibarrola /ra
