Kapuso actress Winwyn Marquez has just announced that she is officially joining the beauty pageant Miss World Philippines 2017.
In a recent Instagram post, the actress-dancer proudly shared with her fans and followers the good news.
Her bold move for another shot to being a future beauty queen earned praises and support from her fans.
The 25-year-old actress is no stranger to the pageant world. She has previously joined Binibining Pilipinas in 2015 but only managed a top 15 finish. Despite her failed shot at the crown, she was able to bag three special awards – Best in National Costume, the “She’s So Jag” special award and Best in Talent. She was among Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach’s Binibining Pilipinas batchmates.
Teresita Moreno Marquez in real life, she is the daughter of actors Joey Marquez and Alma Moreno. Her interest in pageants shouldn’t be surprising at all. Her aunt Melanie Marquez was once the bearer of the Miss International crown, back in 1979, and was then only the third Filipina to have won the title.
Should Wyn be lucky to win the local crown and move on to compete for Miss World, and should she be fortunate there too, she will only be the second Filipina to win it, after Megan Young in 2013.
Miss World Philippines 2017 has been scheduled for September 3 at the Mall of Asia Arena and will be telecast live via GMA 7.
Marquez is currently dating fellow Kapuso actor Mark Herras. JB
