James Hetfield, front man of the heavy metal band Metallica, has slammed Kendall and Kylie Jenner, who recently tried to sell a line of T-shirts that had the celebrity sisters’ images superimposed on the likeness and logos of iconic artists and acts, including Metallica, Pink Floyd, The Doors and Tupac Shakur.
It was “disrespectful,” said James, who was the most recent artist to voice out his displeasure about the issue. “We have spent 36 years working and doing our best to keep a really close connection with people; to make every note count,” Hetfield told ET Canada. “And then someone just throws something over something that we feel—not that it’s sacred or anything—but show some respect.”
Kendall and Kylie immediately pulled out the contentious T-shirts, after receiving backlash from artists and fans. Legal action was also taken by The Doors and the photographer who took the Tupac image the sisters used. —ALLAN POLICARPIO
