Rhian Ramos holds concert to celebrate 11th year in show biz

Rhian Ramos

Rhian Ramos isn’t the kind of girl who sits on her laurels. She always likes to challenge herself. So, to celebrate her 11th year in the biz, Rhian is doing something she’s never done before—perform in a concert.

Catch “Rhian of Steel” on July 29, 6 p.m. at Teatrino in Greenhills. Since she has a resemblance to Taylor Swift, it would be cool to watch the Kapuso hottie turn into a singer even for just one night.

Rhian’s miniconcert comes on the heels of her recording, “Hear Me” (via Spotify or iTunes).

Aside from that, Rhian continues to burn the race tracks, where she’s been winning awards. Moreover, she landed in third place on FHM’s Sexiest List of 2017. This “it” girl just keeps blooming and soaring.

Here’s my chat with Rhian:

What was the turning point in your career and love life? When I gave up on the idea of being acceptable to all, I began to feel more like myself and realized that, for the people who matter, that was enough. My work became more intentional, and my relationships became more meaningful.

What lessons in racing are applicable to life? You only get better at it if you keep getting back behind the wheel.

What makes your relationship with your boyfriend (Jason Choachuy) work? We agree on food, shows, humor, hobbies and [the importance of] privacy. We support and respect each other. We listen to each other’s problems and celebrate each other’s happiness.

What’s your dream marriage proposal and wedding? I don’t have a dream proposal, but I’d like a wedding surrounded by the people I love at a time when I already have the things people usually put in their registry, so I won’t have to make one (laughs).

What’s the naughtiest thing you’ve done? My sister and I used to hide match heads in my dad’s cigarettes, so they’d burst into flames when he’d try to light them. We don’t take credit for it, but he’s quit [smoking] now.

What prompted you to mount a concert? It’s a request that I’ve been laughing off for a long time. My mom is a singer, but I never saw myself as one. Recently, I found music to be another way to express myself, and when fan club members mentioned it again, it didn’t seem all that ridiculous anymore. Now, I’m excited to take it on.

What are your major plans after your show biz anniversary? Lately, indie films have been a great way of further exploring acting, and I’ve been working on a video blog with my sister, too. I’ll be putting in some time to learn more about music’s technical side. I’d also like to explore the world a little more.

If you could revert to being just an “ordinary” person for a week, what are the things you would do? I’d turn my phone off, take a road trip, and wear the same clothes every other day.

What do you dislike about fame? It’s hard to turn it off and, sometimes, the same amount of energy you spend in a game show or performance is expected when you’re doing the groceries. But, don’t get me wrong, I love skipping the line at the bank.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve done for love? I got back together with him, like, 20,000 times.
