Hilary Duff gave Disney fans a nostalgic “heart attack” by re-creating her iconic magic wand promo for Disney Channel.
The former “Lizzie McGuire” star appeared in a “Truth or Dare” segment for Buzzfeed together with Sutton Foster, her co-star in the sitcom “Younger.” Back in the early 2000s, Duff and some of her fellow Disney stars drew the shape of Mickey Mouse’s ears using a lightsaber during commercial breaks.
She even shared the backstory behind the nostalgic wand promo and lauded “That’s So Raven” and “Raven’s Home” actress Raven-Symoné for performing it with gusto.
“So we have to do the thing when they put it in CGI, like the mouse ears. They made us do it, like, 900 times,” Duff recalled. “I lost all personality at that point. Plus, I was like a pubescent teen. I was like, ‘What are they making me do? This is invisible! It’s not cool.’ But Raven-Symoné was nailing it!”
At the time, Duff, 29, just finished taping the credits of her beloved sitcom. “I think I had shot the beginning of Lizzie McGuire with all those bouncy balls, and I was like, ‘What is this last minute thing?’ It’s like Hilary with a lot of attitude. Like, what are they making me do? But now I’m happy to do it because that was hilarious,” she ended.
From 2001 to 2004, Duff portrayed the titular character in “Lizzie McGuire,” which was hailed as one of the most successful teen-oriented shows on the channel. Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
