LOOK: Liam Payne meets Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Harry

British popstar Liam Payne met British royalty last June 30 for a youth awarding ceremony.

The Queen’s Young Leaders Programme awards grants to members of the youth, between ages 18 to 29, who do life-changing work in their communities. They also receive a week of mentorship and training in the United Kingdom.

Payne, looking dapper in a suit and round frames, called his experience of meeting the Queen an “honor” and was moved by the event.

He wrote that he felt “privileged to share the room with such inspirational Queen’s Young Leaders, hear their stories and how they are helping to rebuild and preserve a sometimes broken world.”

In an interview for the event, the former One Directioner said, “For our future, we need people like this. I hope my son could grow up like them.” The 23-year-old’s son with British pop singer Cheryl was born last March 2017.

And while any other teen familiar with the boy band member would want to meet Payne, he professed to being the starstruck one that day: “[I would like] to commend them on such creativity to think of great things to do to help their community, help the Commonwealth is amazing.”

He previously met her Majesty the Queen with his One Direction bandmates last 2012. JB
