Critics honor three generations of actresses
Lotlot de Leon is ecstatic over her family’s unique achievement, a triple whammy, in this year’s Gawad Urian honor roll. Three generations are nominated in the critics’ awards, she pointed out.
Lotlot’s adoptive mother, Superstar Nora Aunor, is nominated for best actress for “Hinulid.” Lotlot and her daughter Janine Gutierrez are vying for best supporting actress. Janine scored the nod for “Dagsin” and Lotlot for “Mrs.”
“I feel proud,” Lotlot told the Inquirer. “Who would’ve thought that this would happen? I believe it’s the first time in the history of Philippine movies that three generations from one family are nominated in an awards show. I hope dad (Christopher de Leon) and mom are proud of Janine.”
Lotlot is beaming with pure joy whenever talk turns to Janine. “I am so happy for her. Janine really loves to act. I am happy that she is making a name for herself … not just because she is my child, but because she’s determined to prove to everyone that she can make it in this industry.”
Although La Aunor is no stranger to the Urian (she was its first best actress for “Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos” in 1976), it’s a first time for both Lotlot and Janine to get a nod. “It’s such a blessing. God is good,” Lotlot quipped.
