Tom Holland confirms young ’Peter Parker’ cameo in ‘Iron Man 2’
The “Iron Man” sequel in 2010 may not be the best of the franchise, but it did provide fans a subtle hint of things to come.
A seemingly minor scene near the film’s end saw Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.) save a young boy wearing an Iron Man mask at the Stark Expo.
The youngster boldly stood up against the menacing Hammer Drone, before the metal-bound hero exclaimed: “Nice work, kid.”
Years later, fans are still speculating that the kid is actually a young Peter Parker a.k.a. Spiderman—who will be played by Tom Holland in the upcoming “Spiderman: Homecoming” set to be released next week.
Recently, the actor himself laid to rest the claims and confirmed that the Peter Parker cameo theory is indeed true.
“I can confirm that as of today. I literally had a conversation with Kevin Feige only 20 minutes ago,” the 21-year-old English actor told the Huffington Post.
“Maybe I’ve just done a big, old spoiler, but it’s out there now,” he said. “It’s cool. I like the idea that Peter Parker has been in the universe since the beginning.”
It is also worth noting that the Stark Expo was set in Queens, New York, in the film—where Parker hails from.
Meanwhile, Marvel went through a rigorous and long process to acquire the rights from Sony, to include Spiderman in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The much-awaited reunion between Stark and Parker will hit cinemas on July 6. Khristian Ibarrola /ra
