Four Filipino films will be showcased in the 21st Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea, from July 13 to 23.

The Philippine contingent is led by Mikhail Red’s award-winning film “Birdshot,” which is featured in the World Fantastic Red section. Director Red and producer Pamela L. Reyes will attend the fest, more popularly known as Bifan.

The World Fantastic Red section presents movies “for those who love blood-spattering action, creepy horror and heart-pumping thrillers.”

Meanwhile, three mainstream Filipino films were chosen as part of the Best of Asia program: Joyce Bernal’s comedy flick “The Super Parental Guardians,” Olivia M. Lamasan’s tearjerker romance “Barcelona: A Love Untold,” and Maryo J. delos Reyes’ adult drama “The Unmarried Wife.”

This year, 289 films (consisting of 180 features and 109 shorts) from 68 countries are in Bifan’s lineup.—BAYANI SAN DIEGO JR.
