Charice: Call me Jake Zyrus from now on.
Charice, who lied low after his breakup with his partner Alyssa Quijano, recently returned to social media under a different name—Call him Jake Zyrus from now on.
This change seems to be part of the singer-songwriter’s effort to start anew. Aside from the name change, he has also purged his online accounts.
On Twitter, he formally introduced himself as Jake: “My first tweet as Jake. Overwhelmed. Saw all your love comments and I’m so happy. I love you, everyone, and see you soon,” he said.
He vowed not to let negativity get into him. “I won’t let anyone ruin this moment. I won’t let anyone ruin my happiness,” the 25-year-old recording artist said in another tweet.
On Instagram, where only one post remained as of this writing, Jake said: “From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all the love and respect. I love you back, and I’m sending peace to everyone.”
It was not immediately clear if the new name would be used only for professional purposes or outside show biz as well.
“As of now, I can’t give you specific details. Thank you for understanding,” Jake’s manager, Carl Cabral, told the Inquirer in a text message, when asked about the matter.
Carl did reveal, however, that Jake is currently working on a new album.
