A special place in filmdom is usually reserved for superheroes, but it looks like one popular paranormal thriller will get the same treatment.

“The Conjuring” universe is in full swing, as the second trailer for the prequel “Annabelle: Creation” delves further into the history of the famed sinister possessed doll.

The almost two-and-a-half-minute trailer began with the tragic death of a young girl.

Several years after her demise, the doll maker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home.

In true spine-tingling fashion, the group soon became the target of the dollmaker’s possessed creation, the titular character Annabelle.

The highly anticipated spin-off, meanwhile, is helmed by “Lights Out” director David F. Sandberg and written by Gary Dauberman, who also wrote the first Annabelle film.

Apart from the origin story of the malignant doll, Warner Bros. and New Line also recently announced a spin-off based on “The Crooked Man” last seen in “Conjuring 2.”

Also, a prequel featuring the  “Demon Nun” character Valak will be released in July next year.

“Annabelle: Creation” will petrify Philippine audiences starting Aug. 10.  Khristian Ibarrola /ra
