“Thrill levels” are rising as we await the show’s grand finale on June 23. Who among the four guys will end up with Barbie’s character, Billie? TV, TV, on the wall, who’s the fiercest of them all?
Here’s my chat with Ken, Addy, Ivan and Jak:
What’s the craziest thing you did for a girl?
Ken (K): When my girlfriend split up with me, I refused to let go. So, when she told me she was in Boracay, I followed her there, only to find out she wasn’t really there.
Addy (A): My ex-girlfriend had malaria. I took care of her. Then, I ended up having malaria, too.
Ivan (I): I designed a Harry Potter-inspired teddy bear from scratch. I sourced the materials. I felt that was not enough, so I also gave her a Kate Spade bag.
Would you fall for an older woman?
K: I prefer older women because I like being treated like a baby.
A: Yes, because older women are more mature. I like women I can learn from.
I: Of course. It’s not the age, but the connection that matters.
Jak (J): Sure. When love hits you, it just does.
What do you think of girls who make the first move?
K: It turns me on. I like girls who are brave enough to admit their feelings.
A: I like girls who are straightforward. It speeds things up, which is good because life is short.
I: Depends on what sort of move they make.
J: I prefer making the first move.
What’s the best and toughest part of being a millennial?
K: The best part is having the freedom to express ourselves in social media. The tough part is to be mindful of what we post online.
A: The best part is our being techies. The tough part is, we tend to isolate
ourselves since we’re hooked on our social media sites, which creates a higher percentage of lonely people.
I: The best part is that everything is accessible to us, and we can do as we please. The tough part is how society judges us.
J: We rule social media, but the tough part is handling the negative effects of our online activities.
How would you handle an indecent proposal?
K: I appreciate the gesture, but I don’t accept those. But I tell them that we can be friends.
A: I just ignore them.
I: I have not experienced that. I guess it would be flattering. I will handle it with respect.
How do you handle bashers?
K: I reply with positive messages.
I: As long as it’s constructive criticism, I take it as an opportunity to improve myself.
J: I analyze if the basher has a point. It makes me examine myself and do better.
If you could be invisible, who would you like to stalk?
K: Selena Gomez. I want to find out how she handles fame.
I: Brad Pitt.
J: My crush Charlize Theron. I want to know what she’s like.
What’s the craziest thing that a fan has done?
A: Naming her kid after me.
I: A fan gave me a gigantic postcard mobile that was very detailed.
J: One fan got so attached to me that she started acting like she was my girlfriend.
What’s on your bucket list?
K: To visit the Holy Land, and to see the aurora borealis.
A: Skydiving
I: To portray a Marvel superhero.
J: To go around the world.
What has fame taught you?
K: Not to believe in my own hype. You should join show biz not because you want to become famous, but because it’s your passion.
A: I don’t think of fame much because that’s not something I was after when I came to Manila. I did realize that when you’re famous, everyone wants to be with you. So, it’s like having a superpower that will not last forever.
I: I don’t like to think about fame. I want to remain “normal.”
