Bat-Signal lit up for Adam West

Last week, esteemed American actor Adam West passed away after a hard-fought battle with leukemia.

The 88-year-old Hollywood staple was best known for his portrayal of “Batman” in the 1960s.

In a moving gesture quite fitting for the legend, the Los Angeles, California, City Hall honored the deceased actor by lighting the ceremonial “bat-signal” on Thursday (Friday in Manila).

Mayor Eric Garcetti and Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck led the ceremonies, which were attended my hundreds of fans, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Aside from his ventures as the caped crusader, West has been a recurring character in the animated comedy sitcom “Family Guy.”

The show’s creator, Seth McFarlane, confirmed that they will honor the late actor by re-airing the episode “The Dating Game,” which featured West’ character winning an auction for a medieval-themed restaurant.

McFarlane also penned a moving tribute for West on his Twitter account.

“His positivity, good nature, and sense of fun were undeniable, and it was always a big jolt of the best kind of energy when he walked in to record the show,” he wrote. “He knew comedy, and he knew humanity.”  Khristian Ibarrola /ra
