After a short hiatus from show biz, seasoned actor Diether Ocampo is making a comeback via “Magpakailanman’s” Father’s Day special to be aired on GMA 7 on Saturday.

The show’s teaser photos quickly made rounds online as fans, netizens and major news sites reposted them.

Last seen in ABS-CBN’s “Apoy Sa Dagat,” the hunky actor stars with former Miss World 2013 and Kapuso actress Megan Young.

“It’s great to be back behind the cameras!” Ocampo said in a statement sent by his manager.

The 43-year-old actor fondly expounded on his role. “I wouldn’t say it’s pure drama. It’s a feel-good story that crosses all boundaries. It deals with different issues. I’m pretty sure a lot of people will be able to relate to it,” he said.

“It’s basically about coping and survival, and it makes us realize that despite the good news that we see and hear every day, there are still basically a lot of good and kind-hearted people around us. And of course, we can never ignore the power of prayer and faith in God,” he added.

Meanwhile, the actor only had good words for his co-star, Miss World 2013 Megan Young.

“For someone who’s been new in the acting business, she sure shows a lot of potential. I’ve seen some of her previous works as well, and she registers well on screen,” he said. “I could say we met halfway. What was important was that we had mutual respect for each other.”

His “Magpakailanman” debut marks his foray into Kapuso (GMA 7) territory and he’s very much excited for the projects he’s lined up with in the coming months.

During his over-a-year hiatus, the former Kapamilya actor spent his time in the US West Coast, where he became a registered pilot, dabbled in digital photography and also attended some acting classes and workshops.

Ocampo started his career in the Kapamilya (ABS-CBN) network as one of its most bankable teen stars back in the ’90s. He is mostly remembered as the perennial third party to the hit love team of Claudine Barretto and the late Rico Yan. He was once married to actress Kristine Hermosa but they separated in 2005 when Hermosa filed for annulment of their marriage.

He finally starts a new career under his new home network.

He is currently managed by Arnold Vegafria’s ALV Talent Circuit.  /ra
