Former Binibining Pilipinas Venus Raj now has another sash on her shoulder: the iconic University of the Philippines’ sablay.
The beauty queen completed her master’s degree in Community Development in the University of the Philippines in Diliman.
Venus hails from Bato, Camarines Sur, and has always wanted to give back to her community.
“I chose Community Development because I want to help my province mates someday,” she told Inquirer in 2014. “My goal is to put up a foundation for the youth—with special focus on education.”
Last 2010, she was crowned the fourth runner-up in the Miss Universe pageant, and was criticized for her “major, major” response in the question-and-answer portion.
Following her academic success, online users are now associating her with good luck.

In an Instagram post of her stunning graduation picture, she encouraged others to “never stop learning.”
“Sa lahat ng magsisipagtapos, let us still consider ourselves students of this life…When we stop learning, we stop growing. There are far more lessons that we have to discover,” she wrote. “Don’t be afraid of the process, God is with you.”
Clearly, the Bicol native lives up to her own advice of learning and growing, and is proof again that beauty queens are more than their looks and pageant performances. JB
