Four PH films in Taipei

Four Filipino movies will be screened at the 19th Taipei Film Festival in Taiwan from June 29 to July 15. Mikhail Red’s “Birdshot” and Bradley Liew’s “Singing in Graveyards” are included in the New Voices from Southeast Asia section.

Meanwhile, Mario Cornejo’s “Apocalypse Child” and Jet Leyco’s “Town in a Lake (Matangtubig)” are part of the Asian Prism program.

According to its website, this fest is “an annual multicultural event” spearheaded by the Taipei City Government and the Department of Cultural Affairs. The Taipei fest is considered “one of the most important and high profile cultural events in Taiwan … screening about 160 films from over 40 countries.”

Dubbed as “one of the most influential showcases in Taiwan,” the fest attracts approximately 100,000 guests every year. —BAYANI SAN DIEGO JR.
