In this age when social media have become a new mode of communication, many people—celebrities included—are consumed in their digital way of social interaction.
Just like ordinary netizens, celebrities experience the realities of being added, tagged, unfriended and even blocked.
Take these two popular actors, Gerald Anderson and Arci Muñoz, the lead stars of Star Cinema’s latest romcom film “Can We Still Be Friends.” Recently they admitted that they had been blocked by their exes.
Anderson’s colorful love life has been an open book in showbiz. He has been in relationships with some of the most beautiful women in the industry, but he has not revealed the reasons for his break-ups with them. One of his ex-girlfriends had blocked him on social media, he said, but he won’t say who she is.
“Opo ako naranasan ko ‘yan, di ako nagblock ah, ako yung blinock (Yes, I have experienced being blocked),” Anderson said at the grand media launch of their movie last May 30.
His answer got the entertainment press curious as to who could be the ex he was referring to. However, the Kapamilya hunk did not reveal any identity. He just left the guessing to the media.
All he said was, “Tingin ko po kilala niyo, hindi naman po maiiwasan (I think you know her, it can’t be helped).”
Asked if he was affected by his ex’s gesture, he said, “Social media lang ‘yan, tita (That’s only social media, auntie).”
Muñoz, for her part, said she had experienced being blocked on social media by her then longtime boyfriend, rock star Badi del Rosario, even if they were still in a relationship.
She admitted, though, that both of them were not so much into social media. “Nevertheless, he unfollowed me, but eventually he followed me again,” she said.
The 27-year-old actress explained that the “unfollowing” instances happened after their petty fights. /ra
