For Kirsten Dunst, who charmed fans as Mary Jane Watson in the “Spider-Man” trilogy, the film’s reboots that came after their box-office grand slams are none of her concern.
The actress revealed to UK’s Marie Claire magazine that her “Spider-Man” movies with Tobey Maguire were better than the subsequent reboots starring Andrew Garfield and, now, Tom Holland. Dunst played the superhero’s love interest in “Spider-Man” in 2002, “Spider-Man 2” in 2004 and “Spider-Man 3” in 2007.
“We made the best ones, so who cares?” Dunst said. “I’m like, ‘You make it all you want.’ They’re just milking that cow for money. It’s so obvious. You know what I mean?”
In another recent interview with Variety, Dunst, 35, maintained her equivocal opinion about the film’s current franchise, which will hit global movie houses this July. “Everyone likes our ‘Spider-Man.’ C’mon, am I right or what? Listen, I’d rather be in the first ones than the new ones,” she said.
Among the films she starred in during her Hollywood voyage, “Spider-Man” would always be dear to her, even though plans to shoot their fourth sequel were scrapped. She blurted out, “I wanted to be in that movie so badly. I loved it, and I wish we could have made a fourth.” Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
