Because of fan-made memes that went viral last month, Rihanna and Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o will be starring in their own film.
The bid for a movie starring both women was ignited when a Twitter user shared a 2014 photo of Rihanna and Nyong’o seated together at the Miu Miu fashion show.
“Rihanna looks like she scams rich white men and Lupita is the computer-smart best friend that helps plan the scams,” one user jokingly pitched in a tweet that stockpiled 209,000 likes.
In another viral tweet, another user gushed, “A picture for the history books.” More Twitter users conceptualized a heist-centered story amplified by black empowered women.
And the netizens’ prayers were answered: Netflix bagged rights to produce Nyong’o and Rihanna’s movie, which is slated for a 2018 release, according to Entertainment Weekly.
