The dancing queens are returning for a “Mamma Mia!” sequel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal is eyeing to release “Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again” on July 20, 2018, in the US.
“Mamma Mia!”, which is based on the groundbreaking musical of the same name, features the biggest hits of Swedish pop group ABBA. It shimmered in the international box office in 2008 with an overwhelming $609.8 million (P30 billion) in earnings.
Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgard and Pierce Brosnan will reprise their roles in the sequel. Directed by Ol Parker, “Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again” will be set in the present and will time-travel to the past lives of the characters, who will be portrayed by new actors.
