PILI, Camarines Sur—While the appointment of Mocha Uson as assistant secretary in the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCCO) gathered negative reactions from several personalities including Binibining Pilipinas International 2017 Mariel De Leon, the newly-crowned Miss Universe-Philippines Rachel Peters believes Uson should be “given a chance.”

Peters, during the press conference held Saturday at Villa del Rey in the Camarines Sur Water Sports Complex (CWC) here, shared her take on the controversial appointment of the former sexy singer turned political blogger known for supporting President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Well, she hasn’t started yet. And so, I believe everyone should be given a chance. You cannot judge a book by its cover, (That is) something my parents taught me that is still in my mind,” she quipped.

Peters thinks that “we should trust in our President and trust that it’s he (who) knows what is best for our country.”

A Filipino-British model, she represented Camarines Sur in the recently concluded 2017 Bb. Pilipinas beauty pageant. Her mother is from Canaman, Camarines Sur while her father is a British national.

Peters said she has been staying in Camarines Sur since 2014, helping her boyfriend Camarines Sur Gov. Miguel “Migz” Luis Villafuerte in his humanitarian work which includes the distribution of relief to victims of calamities. IDL
