A very Kapamilya awards show

ABS-CBN once again took the lion’s share of trophies at the 25th Star Awards for TV, handed out by the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) on Tuesday night.

ABS-CBN won Best Station, along with 25 other trophies. The final tally for the other stations were: 15 for GMA 7; six for TV5; three for Studio 23 (an ABS-CBN affiliate); two for Net 25; and one for GMA News TV (of GMA 7), according to PMPC.

The special awards were dominated by Kapamilya talents, too. Piolo Pascual and KC Concepcion won Male and Female Face of the Night; Luis Manzano and Shamcey Supsup, Male and Female Celebrity of the Night; Coco Martin and Toni Gonzaga, Male and Female Star of the Night.

FEATURED STORIES

“Maalalala Mo Kaya (MMK),” an ABS-CBN drama anthology, was elevated to the Hall of Fame, along with Kapamilya host Boy Abunda.

Movie queen Susan Roces received the Ading Fernando Lifetime Achievement Honor while another queen Nora Aunor got a special award for “Superstar,” the longest-running musical-variety show.

Among the special award recipients from the Kapuso station were: Jessica Soho (Excellence in Broadcasting), German Moreno (Star Builder) and the late director-choreographer Lito Calzado (posthumous award).

Among the top winners from the Kapamilya channel were Gretchen Barretto (Best Drama Actress for “Magkaribal”); Coco Martin (Best Drama Actor for “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin”); Ai Ai de las Alas (Best Single Performance by an Actress, “MMK”); Enchong Dee (Best Single Performance by an Actor for “MMK”), among others.

It was a double victory for the Studio 23 show “Us Girls,” which won Best Lifestyle Show and Best Lifestyle Show Hosts for Angel Aquino, Iya Villania and Cheska Garcia-Kramer.

The Kapuso winners were Allan K (Best Male TV Host, “Eat Bulaga”); Vicky Morales (Best Female Newscaster, “Saksi”); Jillian Ward (Best New Female TV Personality, “Trudis Liit”); Teejay Marquez and Derrick Monasterio (Best New Male TV Personalities, “Tween Hearts”); Ogie Alcasid (Best Comedy Actor, “Bubble Gang”); “Pepito Manaloto” (Best Comedy Show); “Little Star” (Best Daytime Drama Series); “24 Oras” (Best News Program), among others.

The Kapatid winners were led by Vic Sotto (Best Game Show Host, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”), Cristy Fermin (Best Female Show Biz-oriented Program Host, “Paparazzi”); Presida Acosta (Best Public Service Show Host, “Public Atorni”); and “Willing Willie” (Best Variety Show).
