Terrence Romeo: I’m only engaged, not married

Terrence Romeo

I was surprised to get a call from Terrence Romeo last April 29. The PBA star player told me that he got my number from our common friend, James Yap. He said he just wanted to clarify what I wrote in my April 29 column about his “secret wedding” last April 22.

“I’m just engaged. We didn’t get married yet. My fiancée and I want to keep our relationship private and low-key,” he explained. “Actually, it’s more of a long-distance relationship, because she’s usually in the United States. We meet up abroad.”
The baller and his mystery girl are always on “time-out” from the outside world.

I was already expecting Terrence to deny the report. Just like any other celeb, that’s his prerogative, and I respect his decision.

Terrence must have his reasons for keeping it under wraps. Perhaps he just wants to shield his “Juliet” from public scrutiny.

But my reliable source insists that the hush-hush wedding really took place. The truth will surface eventually. No secret remains a secret for long. The limelight isn’t a good place for dark secrets.

According to Terrence, his colleagues and sponsors were shocked when they read the news in this column. “They were badgering me why they weren’t invited, but I told them there was no wedding, anyway.”

During our phone conversation, the Gilas cager referred to his fiancée as “asawa ko,” then he quickly explained, “Kasi, ‘asawa ko’ ang tawagan namin (that’s what we call each other.”

Wasn’t his “slip of the tongue” a dead giveaway? Seems like Terrence is good at being “defensive” on and off the court.

If only the three PBA players (one each from San Miguel Beer, Alaska and Talk ‘N Text) who were present at the “wedding” would be willing to be interviewed.

Too bad the caterer (a European-style pâtisserie) wouldn’t spill the beans, either, because it was reportedly made to sign a confidentiality agreement.

Just like when he does a “shot fake” during ball games, is Terrence also faking it as far as the real score is concerned?

‘Julianella’

Online sensations Ella Cruz and Julian Trono, dubbed the Teen Dance Princess and Prince, respectively, have started preproduction work on their launching movie for Viva, “Fanboy/Fangirl.”

The tandem will also have a TV series based on a Wattpad hit, “Break the Cassanova’s Heart.” The duo’s first collaboration video, “Versace on the Floor,” has garnered over three million views so far.

They’ve been drawing huge crowds in their PPop Generation mall shows. It’s Julianella mania time!
