Danica Sotto: Spare Ciara from Tito Sotto’s ‘na-ano’ issue

Danica Sotto-Pingris tried to shield her cousin Ciara Sotto from bashers flooding her Instagram page with hate comments following Senate Majority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto’s controversial remark on single mothers.

Sen. Sotto had irked netizens after joking about mothers having kids out of wedlock during Social Welfare Secretary Judy Taguiwalo’s confirmation hearing. He called single mothers like Taguiwalo as “na-ano lang (merely got laid).”

After Sotto’s quip, critics reminded him that even his own daughter is a solo mother; Ciara split with businessman Jojo Oconer in 2016 following third-party rumors. They have a son, 2-year-old Crixus.

On Thursday, Danica, the daughter of Sen. Sotto’s brother Vic, pleaded with bashers to leave Ciara and her son out of the mess and respect their private space.

“Please wag kayo dito mag comment. Respect her account. May mga nasaktan man pero unfair na idamay niyo siya pati ang pamangkin ko (Some were hurt but it’s unfair to drag her and my nephew),” Danica said.

She added, “Sorry if may mga na-hurt but please let her enjoy her vacation. Respect ang gusto niyo hindi ba po? Please also show her some respect. Walang sino man ang perfect sa atin. Please don’t make this issue bigger by giving unnecessary comments.”

Since the incident erupted, Sotto has formally apologized and said it was just a joke.  Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
