The Amoranto Stadium was once again filled to the brim last Saturday by thousands of people clad in black shirts.
Pulp Summer Slam Festival, Southeast Asia’s largest and longest running metal festival, now on its 17th year was highlighted by the performance of Grammy Award winning thrash metal band Megadeth who sang songs from their latest album “Dystopia” and some of their most famous songs, including “Symphony of Destruction” and “’A Tout Le Monde.”
This year’s stellar lineup also included British power metal band Dragonforce, American deathcore band Whitechapel, Japanese electronicore band Crossfaith, American electronicore band I See Stars and Australian progressive rock band Gods of Eden.
Of course, the festival also showcased the talents of the local bands Slapshock, Greyhounds, Wilabaliw, Razorback, and Shotgun Combo, the 2016 Red Horse Beer Pambansang Muziklaban champion,
The Pulp Summer Slam Festival is the closest Filipino metal fans could ever get to experiencing the concert ambiance like that in Coachella, Lollapalooza, or the Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany. /atm
