Alden Richards has surprised a 97-year-old hospitalized fan by visiting her on her birthday.

It started with a heartwarming wish made by Catalina de Ramos’ grandson Ralph Calinisan, who wrote a letter on Facebook hoping that the Kapuso heartthrob could drop by to visit De Ramos, who is currently hospitalized due to high blood pressure and complications from a recent stroke.

“My grandmom (Nana) likes two things the most: her family and a certain Alden Richards. After answering the doctors what’s her condition, she adds that she is bothered since she couldn’t watch Alden on TV,” Calinisan detailed.

Now that his beloved grandmother was showing signs of frailty, Calinisan bravely appealed to Richards to fulfill De Ramos’ “fan girl” wish.

“I’ve been wanting to surprise her or treat her on her birthday. As we are stuck in the hospital, that would be most difficult. She is also not that mobile after the stroke. Because of this, I was hoping that, if you have the time, maybe you can drop her a note, a photo, or even visit her in person. I know that would really make her very happy,” he said.

In time for her 97th birthday, Calinisan’s honest plea caught Richards’ attention and the actor visited De Ramos at a hospital in San Juan. “You made my Nana very happy on her 97th birthday. We are overwhelmed! Now, I’m a fan,” Calinisan penned in an another update, adding that De Ramos’ blood pressure had gone stable and that she would be discharged anytime soon.  Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
