5SOS, DNCE ready to set the ‘In the Mix’ stage ablaze
For its second year, “In the Mix”—MMI Live’s one-night music festival geared toward millennial concertgoers—has assembled a lineup composed of six of today’s most popular artists, mainly from the international pop-rock and indie-pop scenes.
The concert is set on Aug. 17 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena (for tickets, call 470-2222).
Leading the roster are Joe Jonas’ DNCE, the funk-inspired dance-rock group behind the hit ditty, “Cake by the Ocean”; “Scared to be Lonely” singer Dua Lipa, who fuses her soulful vocals with dreamy, synth-laden beats; and teenage sensation Zara Larsson, whose electro-pop hit, “Lush Life,” has over 571 million streams so far on Spotify.
Meanwhile, expected to draw in hordes of fan girls anew is the Australian pop group 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS), which held a sold-out solo concert in Manila last year. Also in the show are the Irish indie band Two Door Cinema Club, as well as singer Daya, who was featured in the Grammy-winning song, “Don’t Let Me Down” by The Chainsmokers. —ALLAN POLICARPIO
