One day, while going through old photos of his recently departed father, Jericho Rosales chanced upon one that truly spoke to him: It was of his “hero,” his dad Santiago Rosales, who used to ride his bike around the country to sell insurance policies, happily posing at the San Juanico Bridge that connects the provinces of Samar and Leyte.

Jericho, who’s also a motorbike enthusiast, promptly thought of replicating the photo of his father, who died of cancer last month.

“I set out with a group of friends, rode for 72 hours and covered 800 kilometers. And once I reached the bridge, I cried my heart out,” he said at a press conference for the movie “Luck at First Sight.”

The 37-year-old actor then returned home “a stronger person.” “I feel better now…I understand him more,” he said. “He was a source of inspiration and gave me a sense of adventure. We miss him.”—ALLAN POLICARPIO
