MEGAN Young

Earlier this year, Megan Young signed a contract with a New York-based artist agency to help her with her dream of becoming an actress in Hollywood. But while excited, the Miss World 2013 winner is also being realistic about her prospects.

“I don’t want to expect much—I’m starting from scratch. If I land projects, then great; if not, at least I tried,” Megan told reporters at a recent press conference for the coming movie, “Our Mighty Yaya” (May 10).

She has always wanted to try her luck abroad. And she might as well do it now while she’s still young, she said. “I’m only 27. I believe it’s better to do it now, while I’m not married—while I don’t have a child or obligations to other people,” pointed out Megan, who’s set to fly to the United States in the summer, to undergo workshops. “There’s no harm in trying. That was my mindset, too, before I participated in beauty pageants.”

Meanwhile, asked how her boyfriend, Mikael Daez, reacted to her plans, Megan said: “He’s very happy for me. He told me to just enjoy the experience there.” —ALLAN POLICARPIO
